Blog: Find the clothes that best suit you
Welcome! In this new post we will talk about how to choose the most appropriate clothes to highlight our best qualities. Although the shape of our body is important, there are other factors that we should not overlook, such as eye, skin and hair color. We have already discussed the topic of colors in a previous post, highlighting their essential role in making us feel more attractive.
Today, however, we will focus on other aspects such as height, bust and our silhouette in general. Let's go there!
Tips for dressing if...
You are tall
If you are taller than usual, you can play with some visual tricks to balance your figure. For example, wearing your shirt tucked into your pants is a detail that accentuates your waist and cuts the longitudinal perception, making the figure more harmonious. In addition, mid-calf boots are footwear that you can use very well, something that not everyone can afford. Another option is to use belts to break the verticality; especially if you layer them on dresses or coats, you will be able to draw the silhouette with a horizontal line at the waist. Maxi dresses, although they are not exclusive to tall women, look especially good on them. And if you prefer something shorter, dresses or skirts above the knee will help you balance your slender silhouette.
You are short
If your height is shorter, you can opt for midi skirts instead of long skirts to add a couple of visual centimeters. A-line skirts are trendy and have the added benefit of elongating the silhouette. Also, if you prefer a shirt, make sure it falls just at hip height, since longer ones tend to shorten the figure. Heels and sandals with bracelets are not a good option, since they divide the leg into sections and break the vertical continuity, something that can reduce your height.
You have a lot of bust.
If your bust is prominent, it is important to highlight your waist instead of hiding your chest. Drawing attention to the abdominal area is a good strategy to balance the figure. Avoid clothes with decorations, ruffles or fringes in the upper area, as they tend to add more volume. Opt for wider straps, which offer greater support and better define the silhouette. If you like necklines, be careful with strapless necklines, since, although there are exceptions, this type of cut can create more volume than desired in the chest area.
You have a small bust
For those with a smaller bust, you can take advantage of the comfort of not needing as much support. Back necklines are an excellent option, as they allow you to do without a bra and show off a sexy and elegant look. The strapless neckline is another interesting alternative, as it focuses attention on the collarbone and arms. Additionally, embellishments like ruffles or fringe can add volume and make you feel more comfortable with your upper body. Playing with transparencies is also an elegant way to give a greater sensation of volume.
Guide according to your body shape
Rectangular body
If you have a rectangular body, the goal will be to create visual curves that allow you to balance your figure. A good trick is to use a belt at waist height to simulate an hourglass shape. Jennifer Aniston and Cameron Diaz are famous examples of this type of silhouette. The idea is to add volume to both the shoulders and hips to soften the straight lines of the body. Avoid tight dresses, as they can make you look boxier, and opt for ruffles or layers on top that add dimension to the bust. Straight or slightly flared pants are also flattering, as are jackets with belts that accentuate the waist. Additionally, empire-line dresses and pleated skirts will help you achieve a more feminine look.
Triangle body
If your hips are wider than your shoulders, it is advisable to find a balance between both parts of the body. One way to achieve this is to accentuate the waist, and prints on top can be an excellent tool. Necklines such as boat or V will help you visually widen your shoulders, balancing your hips. Alicia Keys and Jennifer López are examples of this body type. When choosing your wardrobe, look for blouses with bright colors and prints to draw attention to the top, while on the bottom, basic skirts or pants without details will help you draw attention away from your hips. Also avoid horizontal stripes or large prints at the bottom to avoid adding more volume than necessary.
Inverted triangle body
If the volume of your body is concentrated in the upper part, the ideal is that you try to balance it with clothes that add volume to the lower part. Angelina Jolie and Demi Moore have this type of silhouette. Pleated or gathered skirts and pleated pants are your best allies to create that balance. While on the upper part it is better to opt for plain, dark-colored clothing, avoid shoulder pads or details that highlight the shoulders even more. Garments with V necklines are also recommended, as they create lines that elongate and stylize the figure. Flared pants or pants with details at the bottom also help balance the volume.
Apple body
If your body has a more rounded shape, it is important to avoid clothes that are too tight or too wide. Instead, opt for fluid, light clothing that provides structure without being excessively noticeable. Queen Latifah is a good example of this type of figure. Blouses that fall beyond the hips and 3/4 sleeves will help you stylize your arms and figure. It is also advisable to take advantage of the V-neckline to lengthen the neck and show off the bust. Avoid clothes with a lot of decoration on the top, such as boat necklines or decorated with rhinestones, as they can add more volume.
Hourglass body
If you have an hourglass figure, it is very likely that almost all clothes will fit you well, since your body is proportional. Penélope Cruz and Scarlett Johansson are perfect examples of this silhouette. If you have a marked waist, the ideal is to highlight it with tight dresses and high-waisted pants. V-necklines are also perfect for highlighting this figure, and pencil skirts or fitted coats are other options that flatter your silhouette. However, avoid overly ornate dresses, as they could make you look out of proportion.
Always remember that the most important thing is that you feel comfortable and confident in what you are wearing. The best style is the one that makes you feel good!
